A menu case is a small but highly visible part of a premium entrance. Frame proportions, finish, reflections and light shape the first impression. Staff access, paper size and the next menu change determine whether it works in practice.
We develop wall-mounted, recessed and freestanding cases around the content and location. Ordinary paper illuminated from the front and translucent posters illuminated from behind need different optical arrangements; the display should be designed for the print it will actually hold.

Contemporary lockable cases
Coated-metal glazed cases protect replaceable menu sheets behind an opening face. Frame dimensions, retaining clips and the locking method are developed around the actual paper and staff access.
- Where it works
- Wall-mounted entrance and information points.
- Good for
- Regular menu changes with controlled public access.
- Our suggestion
- Send the real sheet size and quantity, then review the usable display opening.
Construction & specification notes
- External dimensions are larger than the usable print area.
- Glazing, lock and hinge selection depend on impact and location.
- Confirm opening arc, mounting support and update access.

Measure the sheet, not just the wall
A4 is 210 × 297mm; A3 is 297 × 420mm; A1 is 594 × 841mm. Margins, glazing, retention and frame construction add to the external dimensions. Supply the actual print layout.
Choose the right optical arrangement
Front-lit paper menus and backlit translucent prints behave differently. Sample the actual media, brightness and reflections instead of treating all illuminated cases as identical.
Make the next update simple
Demonstrate the hinge or insert method, paper retainers and lock. Check the opening arc and retain keys and component references as agreed handover items.

The details behind
the statement.
Exterior identities, interior lettering and information displays need different lighting and supports. Illuminated Menu Cases & Poster Boxes FAQs.
01Can you make a case around our actual menu sheets?
Yes. Provide sheet dimensions, quantity, orientation and margins. The external case size also includes frame, retention and glazing; nominal paper size is not the cabinet size.
02What are the common paper sizes?
A4 is 210 × 297mm, A3 is 297 × 420mm and A1 is 594 × 841mm. Cases may hold one or multiple sheets; custom layouts are reviewed from actual artwork.
03Do illuminated menus need translucent print?
Only a backlit face requires suitable translucent media. Ordinary paper menus can use a separately designed front-lighting arrangement. Trial the actual print before production.
04Can cases be locked and changed by staff?
Specify the locking method and update procedure. Review the hinges, opening arc, retaining clips and staff reach before approving the installation.
05Can you make a real brass case?
Real brass, other metals and accurately described metallic finishes can be reviewed. Approve the physical finish, protective treatment and care requirements.
06Are all external cases waterproof?
No blanket claim is appropriate. The enclosure, seals, drainage, ventilation and exposure need assessment, with any required ingress rating supported by the chosen specification.
07Can a case stand outside on a pedestal?
A freestanding design needs a stable base or anchorage reviewed for contact, wind and location. Keep guest routes and power cables safe and unobstructed.
08Can you produce matching cases for several venues?
Approve a master case, lighting and print template, then survey the mounting and access differences at each venue. Delivery scope and programme dates are confirmed separately.

your signage project.
Send actual sheet sizes, quantity and orientation, lighting preference, location, finish, locking and update needs. Include mounting photos and available power information.
Project-specific specification notes
- Environment, glazing & weather
- Assess impact, exposure, seals, drainage/ventilation and corrosion as a complete enclosure. A description such as weather-resistant is not a verified IP rating.
- Staff access, fixing & stability
- Specify locks, door swing, media retention and reachable update positions. Wall backing, recessed supports and freestanding stability require site assessment.
- Light, print & building power
- Front-lit menus and backlit posters need different media and diffusion. Specify the LED system, driver access, controls and cable route. Warm 2700–3000K, neutral around 4000K and cool 5000–6500K whites are reviewed against physical finish samples. Building mains supply, isolation, final mains connection and certification belong to your qualified electrician, not our general signage package.
