Glass safety manifestation
Contrasting dots, bands or branded shapes help make large glazed surfaces noticeable. Position and contrast must be coordinated for the actual glazing and backgrounds, rather than inferred from a design rendering.
- Good for
- Office partitions, circulation routes and glazed entrance doors.
- Our specification advice
- In England, review Approved Documents K and M with the project team; guidance varies elsewhere in the UK.

to finished installation.
Visibility is not a decorative extra
Agree pattern scale, position and contrast against changing backgrounds. A subtle pattern may not be sufficiently visible in every light condition.
Privacy without blanket promises
Frosting, printed coverage and gradients have different effects on daylight and sightlines. Review a sample from both sides of the partition.
Project-specific access coordination
“DDA” is common search language, not a product certification. Coordinate glazing visibility with the applicable building guidance and the project’s access team.

Before we begin
Office Glass Manifestation & DDA FAQs.
01Is DDA glass manifestation a certified product?
No. DDA is commonly used in enquiries, but a film does not establish overall legal or accessibility compliance. Its design and installation must suit the building and project access strategy.
02Where should manifestation be positioned?
For England, Approved Document K guidance refers to manifestation at two levels, within 850–1000mm and 1400–1600mm above floor level. The project team must confirm applicability, contrast and design; other UK jurisdictions have their own guidance.
03Can a logo be used for manifestation?
A logo or pattern can form part of the design, provided the project team confirms appropriate visibility, contrast and position against the actual backgrounds.
04Does frosted film replace safety glass?
No. Privacy or decorative film is not a substitute for the required glazing specification. Check glass type and film compatibility with the responsible designer.
